I probably should have put this under traditional art, because it is an original drawing measuring about 24 x36 in, done in colored pencil. The image was toched up a bit in photoshop however, just to fix some small texture problems that were interfering with my impression of the peice. It's supposed to be symbolic of the struggle between good and evil forces. Hope you like! I'm new to deviantART and i'm a bit hesitant about putting artwork like this up, so let me know if you use it at all.
why hesitant? It's beautiful... and you really should edit it and put it under traditional art... I like the muscle tones... and welcome to DA... what a great addition you will make
It's fine to put it under traditional art, if you did most of the work off the computer. As well, people aren't supposed to use your art unless you specifically give permission. If they do, then you're allowed to report them for ripping. If you don't mind people using it, though, that's very nice of you, and you can do that. Welcome to DA, by the way.
The shading looks quite good, and from what little I know about horse anatomy, the anatomy looks quite accurate. The black horse's legs look a little like they are crossed, though, which I don't think is the effect you are looking for. I like the way you structured this, with the two horses upright, and the wings and black flames behind. This, as well as the swirling lines in the background, really gives an impression of conflict. The black background gives me the impression that evil is, at least temporarily, gaining the upper hand.
The white horse, despite the violence of the struggle, seems to be quite peaceful, whereas the black horse looks quite angry.
Oh my goodness...this is beautiful! The good/evil symbolism you were talking about really shows. It was the first thing I thought of when I saw this...I especially like how their legs are intertwined as they're fighting, both of them knowing that neither of them will back down until the end. All the detail, even just the movement the manes, really give you a sense of power and movement...you can almost hear them ringing their battle cries, and almost see what might happen after this very moment.
Wonderful, fabulous work... !
