Mood: not sure

Two days into classes, and we have hurricane Katrina give our campus a friendly little visit (aka direct hit)! Just to give you an idea, they didn't cancel classes till 6 pm (which by then we were having flying debris,rain and strong gusts). In the course of my day being outside, I've had to change out of drenching wet clothes three times. Yes, I couldn't find my art class because the building is actually nowhere near the art department! So I was riding around on my bike for somewhere around 45 minutes in pouring rain, following inaccurate directions while umbrellaless because I can't carry one while riding. My raincoat was unfortunately locked in my car in a very far away location, so poor me I got quite soaked- at one point I just gave up on it. Nobody expected the storm to move in that fast. So last night was fun, many people's rooms got drenched from the wind pushing rain through every little crevice. Water leaked about 9 or 10 feet down the length of the hall from the stairwell doors, streaming through the doorseams horror-movie style. We had fun shoving towels across the floor to keep it out of people’s rooms. And outside it looks like there was a palm frond war last night- their dead are strewn everywhere in sight, along with the remains of posters and all kinds of pieces of tree and leaves. Everything is frayed.

Mood: mmm hammock...

Well since I'm definitely one of those people who can write on and on, producing words and subjects like a marathon runner would produce strides... (yeah right), I think it's time for me to update. So here goes:

I'm starting classes soon. So I might be... inactive around here. But maybe not! I'm taking an intro level art course and I'm very happy about that I think. Is it evil of me to try to see how long I can go in that class without being ousted to a higher level? I don't know. I could use an easy A... How horrible of me to say that huh. Ah weel such is my situation.

And ladies and gentlemen I am at a loss for words. Only sometimes can I be a writer. ...I guess I could write stories but when it comes to myself my words fall short.

Sooo, here I am sitting around surrounded by a roomful of crap. But it is crap that shall be sorted and organized and packed, going back to UM with me next week. Should be a fun and productive year, and I hope to get even more artwork done... hopefully I'll be acquiring a wacom tablet for my birthday-- I can only dream! Lucky me I get to haul two 24" x 48" canvases with me so I can paint some antique-looking still life with seashells. Maybe the finished products shall end up posted on here, eh?

I need to find myself some employment. Last year I worked in a lab researching phytoplankton growth (pretty much algea, like red tide and the like). I would love to do something art related this semester. I can do cheap (in price not quality) commissions if you're interested. Note me if you like. Poor college student I am, and I can't say I don't love it.

I think I shall go stare at the sky now.
